The Midday Wine Club, Wed. 10/12/05

C'mon... do the chant with me.

One. Two.

One, two, three...

One-two-three-four... WINE CLUB!

One. Two.

One, two, three...

One-two-three-four... WINE CLUB!

Are we fired up?

Sweet.

Yes, Wine Club's been away for a while, but we're back.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry. Most people have never been to Wine Club.

Well, the proper name is The Midday Wine Club, but it hasn't happened during the day since last year, but it's still called The Midday Wine Club the same way I still call 'em mix tapes. So, get over it.

Cecil and I started it because we could. We thought there would be something cool about having a drink during the middle of the day, in the middle of the week. When most people were worried about getting back to work after lunch, we were sitting down to our first drink. There was food too. Cheese. Fondue. Charcuterie plates. Sometimes there were movies after. All in all, it was just a nice bi-weekly escape.

"An escape from what?" you ask. We never figured that out. Then again we really didn’t think about it much. In retrospect, it was more of an escape to something rather than from something.

So, that's a lot of yappin' without a lot of substance. Hold tight for the substance:

Midday Wine Club
Wednesday, Oct. 12
Silverlake Wine
2395 Glendale Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90039
(323) 662-9024

You can come anytime from 5-9pm, but I won't be able to make it until after 6pm. The price is $12 and a fellow I know, name of D.P., will be there with his gourmet cream cheese spreads. Try the "My Blue Heaven."

Nice header image with wine labels. I used to collect wine labels, as you may remember. I liked to collect them with the bottle still attached though. Wine bottle labels can be very fascinating. For instance, is that a Nazi wine on the upper left?
